Abu Dhabi Traffic Police will start imposing next Sunday new speed limits on one of the ten most dangerous roads in the Emirate, according to a statement sent by them.
The new speed limit will be imposed on the Abu Dhabi – Al Ghuwaifat Road, which research has proved to be one of the ten most dangerous roads in the Emirate.
According to the research, this is so due to the lack of lighting on the road which increases risk of road accidents, especially for speeding motorists.
There will be three different speed limits for three stages of the road from Abu Dhabi to Al Ghuwaifat.
The first stage starts from Al Dhafra Bridge to Baynona Forests (176km both ways) and the speed limit for this stage is 100km/hour and the speed at which the radar will flash will be 121km/hour.
The second stage starts from Baynona Forests to Barakah for which the speed limit will be 120km/hour. The speed at which the radar will catch drivers will be 141km/hour.
The third stage is from Barakah to Al Ghuwaifat for which the speed limit is 100km/hour and the speed for fining motorists will be 121km/hour.
The Traffic Police has also imposed maximum speed limit for heavy trucks at 80km/hour and 100km/hour for passenger buses on all three stages.
